Installation of metal frame structures for construction


The speed of construction of commercial and warehouse buildings directly depends on the accuracy of the steel frame assembly. A violation of geometry during the installation of load-bearing supports leads to deformation of the floors and collapse of the spans under snow load.
Industrial installation of metal structures requires precise leveling of foundations and quality control of each weld. The reliability of anchorages and the competent slinging of multi-ton trusses ensure the safe transfer of the project from drawings to reality.
Foundation preparation and column
installation The installation work starts with a geodetic inspection of monolithic foundations. Specialists shoot through the height marks of the anchor bolts with a total station, checking the alignment of the actual axes of the building with the design coordinates. The deviation of the anchors by more than five millimeters requires cutting the threads and welding new embedded parts.
The metal columns are lifted by an automobile crane using textile slings. The I-beam support is guided by anchor bolts and slowly lowered onto steel leveling plates. The nuts are baited manually, after which the column is placed in a strict vertical with the help of plumb lines and laser levels.
The process of final fixing of the bearing supports:
- tightening the fastener with a torque wrench to the design force;
- installation of locking nuts to protect the thread from self-unscrewing;
- pouring non-shrinkable cement mortar under the metal base of the column.
Temporary extensions made of steel cable fix the columns in their design position until the entire frame is connected. Wind connections from the profile pipe are mounted diagonally between the supports, giving the building spatial rigidity. Fastening of ties is carried out with high-strength hardware with mandatory verification by a dynamometer.
Assembly of rafter trusses and floor beams
Large-sized trusses are welded from steel corners or profile pipes directly on the construction site. The finished structure is checked by a flaw detector for hidden pores and slag in the welds.

The beams of the interstitial floors are supported by welded tables of I-beam columns. The crossbars are fixed with bolted connections using washers and grovers. A rigid grid of beams serves as the basis for laying a profiled sheet and pouring a monolithic reinforced concrete slab.
Anti-corrosion treatment and joint control
The steel elements of the frame are exposed to harsh moisture during the open installation stage. Flame retardants and anti-corrosion compounds are applied at the factory, but the welds and bolt assemblies are cleaned to a metallic sheen with an angle grinder. The bare metal is immediately covered with a primer with a high zinc content.
Ultrasonic flaw detection checks all responsible welded joints for microcracks. The uncooked areas are cut down with a plasma cutter and re-brewed using electrodes with a basic coating. The inspector marks the checked nodes with a personal stamp, confirming the seam's compliance with state standards.
The inspection of bolted connections is carried out selectively on 10 percent of the frame nodes. A special multiplier key measures the tightening torque of the nuts.
