In this interview, he shares what stepping into a senior role means to him, the passion that drives his work, and his vision for a future where every student has the opportunity to learn, grow, and succeed.
1. What does stepping into this senior role mean to you?
Taking on this senior position signifies the trust and confidence placed in me by school leaders, my Reporting Officer, department teammates, and the staff at APSN Katong School. I am committed to continuing to give my best. After all, “Teamwork makes the dream work.”
2. What drives your passion in this area?
My passion for SPED Vocational Education comes from a deep belief that every student, regardless of their challenges, deserves a chance to succeed. I am constantly inspired by the strength and uniqueness of our students, and it is incredibly meaningful to support them in discovering and developing their potential.
3. Tell us about a proud moment you have had working with students.
One memorable and proud moment was when former KS students who had progressed to ITE reached out to share their achievements and thank me for the guidance and support I gave them during their time at APSN Katong School. It was a truly rewarding experience.
4. What are your hopes for the future of vocational training in APSN Katong School?
I envision vocational training at APSN Katong School becoming even more dynamic—responsive to industry trends, driven by technology, and tailored to students’ needs. With a well-rounded Vocational Team under the strong leadership of Mr. Benjamin Tan, I am confident we are moving in the right direction.
5. How do you approach mentoring new trainers or students entering the workforce?
For both new trainers and students, I believe in beginning with relationship-building rooted in trust. From there, it is about providing consistent encouragement, clear guidance, and strong support as they navigate the transition into the workforce.
6. In one word, how would you describe your journey so far?
If I had to describe my journey in one word, it would be grateful—grateful for the opportunity to serve, to grow both personally and professionally, and to make a meaningful difference in the lives of our students with special needs.
