Corporate Secretarial & Executive Assistant

Role Summary:

The incumbent will provide Corporate Administrative support to the Chief Executive Officer, as well as Corporate Secretarial support to the Board and Committee members of APSN Ltd. and APSN Education Services Ltd.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Organise Board meetings, prepare meeting agenda, and take minutes of meeting for review and approval.
  • Support the CEO by following up on the administrative actions as required/requested by the Board.
  • Coordinate and organise event – e.g., Annual General Meeting (Pre & Post) and any adhoc meetings as requested by the Board.
  • Prepare and submit documents with ACRA and other government agencies as and when required.
  • Ensure timely reporting and submissions to regulatory authorities, and maintain proper statutory filings, ensuring statutory compliance with Companies Act and Charities Act and other regulatory requirements.
  • Maintain and update of statutory registers and records (Internal and external).

Social Work Associate

Role Summary:

Assist to provide a full range of social work services to families and students including conduct case work, group work and programme and manage crisis situations.

Functions as a member of the multi-disciplinary team to assist in collaboration and build partnerships with stakeholders, maintain professional and ethical standards and ensure a child-safe organisation.

Associate Psychologist

Role Summary:

Through a range of evidence based techniques and best practices, assist to provide psychological services including psychological assessments and interventions.

Working with teachers, parents and caregivers, provide advice and training in the management of the students’ learning, emotional and behavioural issues.

Key Responsibilities:

Job Responsibilities:

  • Train, coach and assess students (in collaboration with other Instructors, Teachers and APs) in school and on-site to meet industrial standards and requirements of work places incorporating Work-readiness Skills and Work Habits – hard and soft skills.
  • Develop training packages (lesson plan, assignments, and presentation slides with resources, assessment plans and trainer guide) for each vocational area based on competency standards of the Skills Future framework.
  • Monitor students’ performance using CATs (Continuous Assessment Tools) and SWPs (Standard Work Performance)

Job Purpose:

  • To provide Job Support Services to ATI trainees and alumni.

Key Responsibilities:

Job Support and Coaching

  • Conduct work readiness assessment, site assessment to identify job duties and employer analysis to achieve better job matching.
  • Actively involve trainees and caregivers to take proactive and self-determined steps in trainees’ career aspirations and development
  • Facilitate job search process between trainees, caregivers and employers (eg. preparation of resumes, parental consent for interviews, arrangement of job interviews, job orientation)
  • Coach trainees at worksite to fulfil required job tasks, while incorporating social skills, communication skills, self-management skills and etiquette skills necessary at work place.
  • Work closely with alumni to implement and review their vocational goals and complete individual behavioural plan
  • Mentor employers at different hierarchical levels to provide natural support for trainees at worksite.

Employer Engagement and Partnership

Occupational Therapist

Job Responsibilities:

  • Provide assessment and treatment plan to cater to individual student’s occupational therapy needs and implementation of treatment programs to enhance their skills including proper documentation of their progress
  • Review treatments periodically, evaluating students’ progress and making changes to treatments as needed

Job Requirements:

  • Recognized diploma/degree in Occupational Therapy with minimum 2 years clinical experience
  • Good team player with strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Relevant work experience with children and young adults with intellectual disability would be an advantage
  • Ability to work with minimum supervision
  • Relevant work experience with children and young adults with intellectual disability is an advantage

Senior / Psychologist

Focused on supporting trainees’ vocational training and employment needs.

Responsibilities:

  • Must be a team player and able to work closely with the other Allied Professional disciplines in a hybridized multi-trans disciplinary approach.
    • As part of APSN CFA’s right siting efforts, psychologists must be able to work collaboratively and consultatively with our Occupational Therapist, and where relevant, our Job Coaches, by providing recommendations based on your assessments of APSN CFA’s applicants’ and trainees’ motivation, cognitive abilities, limitations and socio-psychological assets.
    • Must be willing and able to work closely with our instructors and Job Coaches in supporting the needs of our trainees and help shape their behaviour in real-life situations (e.g., in training environment).
    • Must have working knowledge about motor planning and sequencing in task performance to be able to evaluate work tasks’ suitability, trainee’s physical limitations and safety concerns.
  • Must have a very sound working knowledge of the latest version of the DSM as more than 40% of persons with Intellectual Disabilities would develop a serious mental health condition in their life time and many have co-morbidity with other developmental concerns (e.g., ASD, rare genetic disorders, cerebral palsy, trisomy 21).
    • Must be able to plan timely periodical information collection of our trainees’ progress through various sources (e.g., observations, report by instructors, etc.) and able to analyse the information to provide current, succinct, valid and meaningful impression of relevant trainees.
    • Must be able to quickly formulate and deliver appropriate evidenced-based, data-driven intervention strategies for mental health and behavioural issues.
    • Must be familiar with the commonly used mental health medications and their possible side effects.
    • Must have a strong foundation on behaviour-based intervention that is dynamic, robust and practical (talk therapy alone does not usually work for people with MID).
    • Must be familiar with commonly used standardized assessments and able to meaningfully interpret medical and psychological reports in forming a clinical impression of the applicant/trainee.
    • Must be familiar in managing aggressive and/or potentially aggressive behaviour.
  • Must be a strong communicator with clear professional boundaries
    • Able to communicate with caregiver with empathy and able to instill hope without distorting expectations regardless of the situation.
    • Able to communicate key clinical information to facilitate professional communication with our partners (e.g., IMH, MSF, other disability care SSA).
    • Sensitive to the needs of the fellow colleagues and able to advocate for the trainees’ needs in an amiable manner.
    • Able to conduct outreach to partners (e.g., employers, medical resident students) and public in an authentic manner to create awareness, promote inclusivity and facilitate appreciated integration of person’s with mild intellectual disabilities in the community.

Speech & Language Therapist

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide professional inputs to support understanding of clients’ speech, language and communication difficulties to teachers, parents/caregivers, professional staff, administrators and the public.
  • Participate in collaborative problem-solving to assist teachers, parents / caregivers, professional staff and administrators with practical ideas and recommendations in the setting of goals, selection and design of intervention programs, etc.
  • Provide screening, identification, assessment, diagnosis, treatment, and follow-up services for people with speech and language disorders.
  • Measure outcomes of treatment and conduct continuous evaluation of the effectiveness of practices and programs to improve and maintain quality of services.
  • Maintain efficient client records and documentation. i.e. assessment reports filing in students’ confidential file.
  • Evaluate and document speech therapy needs of the clients and their progress at regular intervals, monitor training programs and review their effectiveness
  • Engage in administrative duties relevant to department work
  • Evaluate effectiveness and relevance of speech therapy programs to ensure it is up-to-date
  • Conduct in-house training programs for relevant staff/parents/caregivers/volunteers in the organisation.

Requirements:

  • Minimum bachelor’s degree in speech pathology from an accredited college or university.

Teacher Aide

The Teacher Aide will be assisting our APSN teachers in planning, developing, delivering and evaluating appropriate individualised educational services, learning programmes and instructions for special needs students in both self-contained and integrated settings.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist teachers in managing students in classrooms and community-based activities
  • Monitor and record the progress of students
  • Liaise and network with other professionals, parents and care-givers to meet the pastoral and cognitive needs of students
  • Supervise and assist individual or small groups of students in activities/educational tasks set by teachers

  • Greeting and assisting visitors to the school.
  • Maintaining polite and professional communication via phone and e-mail.
  • Anticipating the needs of others in order to ensure their seamless and positive experience.
  • Keeping abreast with new developments, skills and technology to ensure effectiveness on the job.
