Vocational Assessment
Vocational assessment is the process of gathering information about students’ Skills, Knowledge, Interests and Preferences (SKIP) for purpose of planning their IEP.
Hard Skills
Hard skills are industrial-based skills needed to carry out the technical and professional requirements of a job.
Soft Skills
Soft skills comprise of a set of social emotional competencies and work habits that are important across most jobs and are skills that enable students to stay employed.
Vocational Guidance
Vocational guidance is the process of matching students’ interests, preferences, strengths to suitable jobs and careers. It is facilitated through work exposure. E.g. site visits career talks.
Work Experience
Work experience is a structured educational experience in which students carry out a job or a part of a job in an authentic work setting. E.g. Job shadowing, school-based, community-based and industrial-based jobs.
