Social Emotional Learning

PATHS for Grade 1-6 (7-12 years old)

The PATHS (Promoting Alternative Thinking Strategies) curriculum is designed to facilitate the development of:

  • self-control
  • positive self-esteem
  • emotional awareness
  • interpersonal problem-solving skill

This programme  helps to enhance the Social Emotional Learning

The curriculum consists of 119 lessons and was developed for use with primary school age children.

There is an optional Readiness and Self Control Unit contains an additional 12 lessons.

The purposes of the PATHS Curriculum are to enhance social and emotional competence and understanding in children as well as to develop a caring, prosocial context that facilities educational processes in the classroom.

Social Emotional Learning (SEL)

Focus on 2 key areas: Interpersonal and intrapersonal skills

Intrapersonal Domain

This domain includes 4 competencies:

  • Self Awareness
  • Self Regulation
  • Decision Making & Problem Solving
  • Goal Setting & Attainment

Interpersonal Domain

This domain includes 3 competencies:

  • Communication
  • Teamwork
  • Social Relationships
