About Chaoyang School

Chaoyang School caters for children with mild intellectual disability, aged 7-12 years old. We also run a Before and After School Care for our students or former students.

The school started as Chaoyang Special School at Clemenceau Avenue in 1982. It merged with Jervois Special School and relocated to its new premises at Ang Mo Kio Avenue 9 in 2006.

Chaoyang School provides the foundation to prepare our pupils for further education and vocational training. We develop our pupils at the early stages with the core skills of literacy and numeracy for application in their daily life.

Teaching and non-teaching staff

There are 30 teachers and teacher aides. Our teachers have special education qualifications and experience working with children with special needs. Our teachers attend regular professional development activities to keep up-to-date on the latest information and research.

A Multi-Disciplinary Support Unit comprising psychologists, social workers, speech therapist and occupational therapist provide services for the emotional, developmental, social and academic needs of our pupils.
